Hi all. It’s been a whirlwind first week with episode 1 getting over 300 listens as of this weekend. Lots of good feedback and a couple of invitations for me to go on some more podcasts in the ExVangelical universe.
Episode 2 went up today, and it’s a slight deviation from the usual themes of bigotry and oppression. Kind of a “diversity” diversion into an APU alumn named BJ Karlik. He is a straight, white, cis-het guy who credits APU bible classes for his evolution to progressive atheist. It turns out, actually studying the bible with serious scholars and academics can fast-track people right out of the faith.
BJ’s story should scare the bejesus out of all evangelical administrators because although he had a great time at APU and is grateful for a great time there, it also provided the relatively gentle deconstruction he enjoyed. And this deconstruction included recognizing the suffering that others experienced.
Check out the episode and let me know what you think. We have a small but growing group on Discord you can join, and a Patreon where you can support the cause of exposing the evils of evangelical schools. Perks for both spaces are in the works.
